Eggy Bread

Eggy bread is a savoury-sweet treat made by soaking slices of bread in a mixture of beaten eggs and milk. We are toastally in love with this recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 Slices of Hovis® Soft White Extra Thick Sliced
  • 2 Medium eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon of milk
  • 1 Tablespoon of butter
  • Salt & Ground black pepper

Tip

Replace salt and pepper with cinnamon for a sweet treat!

Method

In a bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg and milk mixture, ensuring it absorbs all the liquid.

Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter begins to foam, add the bread and fry each side until golden brown.Repeat the process with the second slice. Transfer to a plate and serve with crispy bacon or fruit compote of your choice.
